Southern Cross Building

Broadway Property Group acquired the Southern Cross building in October 2009 in a tired, run down state. The building was originally built in 1925 as the Southern Cross Picture Theatre and stands out as a landmark in heart of the Ellerslie Township.

The building was converted into Squash Courts in 1970 with access from the ground floor through an arcade of retail. However the popularity of the squash courts has declined and the building is in disrepair.

Broadway saw this as an opportunity to restore the character of the building using urban design principles and upgrade it with modern, efficient systems.

The refurbishment will facilitate the adaptive re-use of the building and ensure its ongoing commercial viability. The range of retail and commercial uses will contribute to the activity and vitality of Ellerslie Town Centre.
